6.5x47 lapua barrel life

Sir,

I have been shooting a 6.5xc across the course for a couple of years now which is very close to the 6.5 x 47, it's about .050 longer than the 6.5x47 ). I just set one of the barrels back at 3232 rounds and the other is still shooting well at 600 yards with over 2900 rounds on the barrel. My sense is that 3500 is not an unrealistic expectation. Both barrels are from Kreiger. The throat on the one barrel I set back had moved approximately .070 using 139 Lapua's . Other bullets I used for the short line were seated further out , 108 Lapua's were out .125 over that 3200 rounds but still shot very well. I used Varget for the loads on both barrels.
Hope the above is helpful.

Sir,

I am pulling 2750 with 139's using winchester brass. I've gone to 2810 with them but it's too hard on the brass and the bolt.

Interested in latest results on barrel life for 6.5x47 Lapua chambering. By now we ought to have some worn out barrels. Anyone care to add to the current data? Thanks

I've got 941 rounds on my rockcreek 5R barrel, I just measured the throat a couple of days ago with the exact same bullet that I used when I first got it. My throat has only moved .002". I was pretty impressed. I've never shot long strings through this rifle, and never shot it in a competition either. I also think Varget powder tends to be easy on barrels too (which is all I've run in it).

Btw, I'm shooting 38gr of Varget with the 123gr Scenars, this is not a hot load in this rifle.

Exactly my load and I can't complain about the accuracy. MV averages 2945. No real pressure signs at 38.6 (far as I went) but didn't shoot quite as well as 38grs in my 27" Shilen/Barnard
