6.5x47 for 100 to 300yd distances

Hello all, I sent Stan this email, I was just curious what your thoughts are??

Hello Mr. Stewart, I’ve read your 6-6.5x47 varminter article a few times over and I hope it hasn’t persuaded me from what my intentions are on my next build. I recently sold my Nesika/Krieger .223 and I’m leaning heavily toward the 6mmBR. I find this a very intriguing little cartridge and one that I think will be great for my style and average distance when shooting – until I read your article.

Anyway, I’m wanting to build a varminter for lighter game (coyote, sheep, pigs, crow, etc.) and living here in the Midwest, my average shot will be in the 100 to just over 300 yards. My thinking was a bullet in the high 60gr to low 70gr with a 12 or 14 twist in the 6BR with a BAT SV action with whatever quality barrel I can find available.

Would you recommend I look harder at the 6-6.5x47 or should I stay on course with my 6mmBR? Another thing that really intrigues me on the 6BR is the straight forward reloading steps. There doesn’t seem to be an intense amount of preparation (neck trimming, case trimming, etc.) which I also like about the 6mmBR. It appears there may be a little more to preparation on the 6-6.5x47??

Thank you for your input and time!!

Your link does not work, remove "articlehttp://" and it will work.

One more thing, the rifle in the article is a 6x47 Lapua (6 - 6.5x47 lapua), not a 6.5x47 like you stated on your email.

Are you asking about the 6x47 Lapua or the 6.5x47 Lapua?
