6.5x47 at 600 yards today

Today I decided to take my Bat M 6.5x47 out and test some loads I had intended to test in 40* weather instead of the 60* temps this afternoon. The winds were nearly none existent and completely overcast.
These were shot at 600 yards and I can say the 41.2 is at the top of the accuracy window for today’s conditions. I’m sure once it gets back near 80 I’ll have to back this off a couple tenths. But for now I’m quiet happy with today’s results.

This makes me very anxious and excited for my 6.5x47 build to be done and ready. Have you tried RL16 or RL17?

Tight, tight vertical with that 41.2 load.
Good shooting James. I hope mine will shoot so well.

You’ll have to do a bunch convincing to me and with proof why I should step up to the heavier Bullets....
This combo won me 2 shooter of the year awards in a club Benchrest match this past year down at Brocks Gap shooting against some of the best shooters around.
Do you like the SMK the best vs Berger or Scenars?

I'm waffling on what I want to try to focus on with my 6.5x47. I was going to put a solid effort in with the new Berger 144 for 1000yard BR this year at CRC in Byers where I compete, but noticed the 135 ATips on sale, and quite a few people have strongly advocated for the lighter 123 - 130 class. So I'm all over the place on this!

I’ve only shot the 130 VLD and the 123 SMK in testing one day the 123 will outshoot the 130 and vice versa. Just depends on the day.
Now during matches I’ve shot both and the 123 has outshot the 130 VLD each time. Maybe it was the 123’s day? But it’s hard to argue though they do seem to always outshoot the 130’s
I just got a couple boxes of Lapuas 123’s so I’m going to be testing them soon. I’ve also considered the 140 hybrids but in all honesty I’ve not had any reason to because the 123’s has shot so well.

I don't think the 123s SMK will do as good as 140 hybrid at 1000 yards I shoot 123 scenar @ 3050 m.v. out of a 6.5 Creedmoor 28" bbl 1" +/- @ 500 yards ... your muzzle velocity seems slow ' but I'm not familiar with the 6.5 by 47

I love RL17 it shoots well with any bullet combination. I am now shooting 123grn Lapua Scenars, out to 800 yards I am staying inside a 3~4 inch paint spot on the steel. and great velocity.

I think if you try the 140 hybrids and H4350 around 40 grs, you won’t be disappointed. I thought the same until I tried them. I was a 123 scenar fellow with Varget until I made the test with the 140’s. I point and jam them 0.015”. Get ready....

I can attest to that!! Truly bad ass!

My 6.5x47 is doing really well with RL-16 and Sierra 142gr match kings. Actually the 142's beat out the Lapua 123gr Scenars and the 139gr Scenars and believe it or not the Nosler 140gr Custom Competition beat the Scenars in my rifle. I'm running a Criterion 30 inch 1-8 twist.

I was going to post a question about the 140 elite hunter in the x47. I am looking for a temp stable hunting load. Have been using Varget with lighter bullets. My 23” barrel hunting gun loves Varget with 120 and 130gr bullets. Would H4350 be my first test with the 140gr Berger Elite Hunter? I am not used to a hunting load under 2800fps. Realize it is a non issue. Temperature stability matters as I hunt in an area that can swing 50 degrees day to day.

40.0 grs H4350 worked well for me, very limited testing both under 40.0 & 40.5 & 41.0 but 40.0 was better.41.0 wasn't too hot it just didn't shoot as well
