6.5x284 varmint hunt

Thinking of taking my 6.5x284 on a prairie dog hunt. Has anyone used the 95 grain V-max bullets theres? I would think they would do a better job then the 140 grain match bullets, as far as red mist factor.
What do you all think?

I had a 6.5 creedmoor manson reamer built for the 95 gr vmax pretty devastating on pdogs and coyotes not fur friendly!!!

I did that once. 2 friends & I took our handguns on a prairie dog hunt in SD. I used a .250 Sav. AI XP-100 and a 6.5/.284 XP-100. We put $ in a pot for the long shot. Up until the last day one friend had the winner with a 350+ shot. I pulled out my 6.5/.284 with 120 BTs. After a few shots I pulled out a winner with a 420 yarder. The gun was new then. I kept using it for groundhogs, deer, Africa. Finally after 2200 rounds I laid it to rest. Best shot out of it was 565 on a WV deer. It's now on #900+ round in a Douglas barrel & still doing great.
Never used lighter bullets. Figured that would burn up the barrel faster. Ended up doing about half a dozen deer from 500-565 using only 130 ABs & 120 BTs.

3 of us have built a 6.4x284 for doggin. they work very well, but we dont pick them up until past 600yd. and usually past 700y. [with 140 gr.]

Sierra has a 105gr blitzking out that might be a good middle ground of speed and BC. I did some initial testing with 4350 but going to revisit with 4831sc

Years ago used 95 V Max in my 260AI on p/dogs

Worked OK…Heavier 140’s had too much ricochet around livestock/equipment

Preferred lighter V Max in 6mm…223…20’s

Never had to pick up the flea ridden dogs…birds cleaned them up
