6.5X284 Too Fast ?

The weather was really nice here this morning. I went out and ran my pet 6.5X284 load over the Garmin to see if it was still running good like last Oct. To my surprise it was clocking 80 fps faster. The groups were a little bigger but that is probably just me. Now I am old enough to know there is no such thing as a free lunch. My load is the 150 SMK over 52.5 grains of Reloader 25 running .010" of. It averaged 3029. Absolutely no pressure signs. Can someone run this on Quick Load and tell me if I am on the verge of disaster? Thank Frank

Need length of loaded round, empty case and barrel.
COAL = 3.213"
BTO with Hornady tool 2.490"
Shilen SM HV @ 28"
Lupua annealed cases.
The cases had been fired five
time without annealing last Oct.
BR-2 primers.

Real simple Frank. Take a reading on the head diameter and see if you're over .0008". That velocity is what I run out a Shehane chamber. You might have false chrono reading?

The reading last Oct. of 2950 was with my Magneto Speed. The 3029 was with my Garmin. I need to test again with both at the same time but I don't expect to see this difference again. I just tested both with my .22XC yesterday and they were so close it wasn't worth worrying about.

I would be worried about what my maximum load is rather than blame chrono. Have you measured head diameter? You must know what the head diameter was when you started load development so you can calculate where your load is in relation to maximum now. Have you fireformed your brass?

What were the temp. differences from oct when you shot it to the last shot you are now comparing it too? RL-15 is not a temp stable powder.

Not blaming the chronos. I always keep one piece of new brass for comparison purposes. The brass has been fired nine times and annealed twice. The first six or seven times in Savage chamber that was fubar. The case head is .001" bigger. Had a new friend here run the numbers for me. My load is no where near max.

I am shooting RL-25. Probably sensitive like RL-15 also. Average temp last Oct. was 61. When I tested recently it was 40. I need to get out to the range for a do over. Looks like we are going to get wet the next few days though.

My bad I read it wrong, I'm not sure how RL-25 is.

I had a great load for my 300 RUM and a year latter with the ammo I loaded 12 months earlier, it was way to hot. Mine was with Retumbo.
