6.5x284 Cleaning

What jags and patches are you guys using to clean your 6.5x284s with?? I have not found anything that fells right to me yet it is ethier to tight or to loose . I have a Dewey 6.5 jag and it is to tight and i have used bigger patches on a Sinclair 6mm jag and have not found the right combo .

For my 6.5 barrels I use a Dewey Parker-Hale style wrap jag model # 24C-PH and the 7mm size,1 1/2"x 1 1/2") square cotton knit patches made by the Southern Bloomer Mfg. Co. of Bristol, TN. Not joking, these are cut from remnant cloth used in making female prison undergarments!

The patches fit perfectly with this jag, and are 100% cotton. I get mine at my local Sportsmans Warehouse, but Midway also carries them.

The Parker-Hale style wrap jag is not your standard Dewey jag, though it's made by Dewey and fits their rods. IIRC, I got mine from Brownells.

I use a 26 cal Dewey jag and 1 1/2" round patches from Sinclair, part # CP-1600. It feels right to me....... I hope this helps you out.

I use Bore Tech peirce style jags. Really like the way they work, the 17 is a little loose to me, but the 22, 6, 6.5, and 30 all seem right.

I use Dewey 6.5 pierce jag and 1.75" square Sinclair patches. Depending on what is in the bore e.g. carbon, solvent, moly etc., I pierce the patch at differing distances from one corner, usually between about 0.25" and 0.5" in. Closer to the corner is looser. No problem with unevenness - the patch still wraps all the way round the jag. Try it and see.

Thanks for the replys i will check to see what size my patches are i cant rem they are Sinclair but they may be bigger than the 1.75'' . I have not looked at the Bore Tech jags do they fit the Dewey rods are just there own rods?? May be something to look into .
