6.5x284 any load ideas guys?

Hey guys!
Just picked up my new 6.5.284 1 in 8 shilen and just wondering what some good loads are? Was thinking the 142 SMK and I'm in Australia so I'm not too familiar with a lot of the powders you guys are using...
Cheers for reading and any help!

Since you're in Oz, download the ADI reloader's manual available on:

http://www.adi-limited.com/handloaders-guide/

which has a good range of data for this cartridge.

There are loads of suggestions on this forum in both previous threads and in the main site's cartridge data section:

http://www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/65x284/

and as most loads quote Hodgdon powders whose extruded grades are all made in your part of the planet by Thales / ADI, here is the equivalents chart:

AS30N=Clays
AP50N = (No Hodgdon)
AS50N = International
AP70N = Universal
AP100 = (No Hodgdon)
AR2205 = H4227
AR2207 = H4198
AR2219 = H322
Bench Mark1 = (No Hodgdon)
Bench Mark2 = BenchMark
AR2206 = (No Hodgdon)
AR2206H = H4895
AR2208 = Varget
AR2209 = H4350
AR2213 = (Discontinued)
AR2213SC = H4831
AR2217 = H1000
AR2225 = Retumbo
AR2218 = H50BMG

As the most popular US combinations use H4350 and H4831sc, you have them locally and packaged as AR2209 and AR2213SC respectively.

Where I am (the UK), Vihtavuori N160, N560, and N165 are very popular, especially N165 with 139-142gn bullets.

With Winchester brass I have had great results at 1,000yds. with 49.5grs of IMR4350, Federal 210GM primer and Sierra 142s. I've switched to Lapua brass, but haven't shot any of it yet for results.

That's absolutely fantastic guys thanks a bunch!! Its definitely great to see guys that are generous with their knowledge I'll be getting into asap thanks again!!

I am having great luck with both MagPro and R17 to get me to 3000 with 140 grain bullets out of a 25" barrel. Accuracy is excellent. I can get a little bit better SDs with H4350 but velocity is 150 fps lower.

I mostly shoot 130s in mine now anyway. I get get about 3175 with R17 and have acceptable accuracy.

H4350 and H4831 are good powders but they won't get you the velocities that the newer powders will- R17, MagPro, Magnum et al.

I shot the 6.5-284 exclusively for the first 5 years of my 1K BR competition, and ran nothing but H-4831-SC and 142's at 3050-3060 in 31-31", after burning up a third of my first barrel's life chasing the holy grail........

I run it in an 18" barreled X-P 100 as well.......same load in fact......
