6.5x 55 Varget loads?

I have always found the Swede does very well with slow burners like 4350 and 4831 but there may be sweet spots around with Varget.

I to have found that slower powders work best for me in the 6.5X55 especially AA and IMR 4350 but the Hodgdon 2011 manual list Varget with some good velocity numbers. The lighter the bullet the better Varget looks. Go to Hodgdon's web site and look at the data.

Try Varget @ 35.8 gr if you are shooting Sierra 142 VLD's as that is what they list in the Sierra Manual as their "Accuracy Load." Personally, I get better results using IMR 4350 in my 6.5X55.

Never used Varget, tried it, did not shoot with my old load. I worked up some IMR-3031 loads about 20 years ago, that outshot anything I tried, even the most popular powders listed in and mentioned above. I tried 30+bullet powder, primer combos, over a 2 year period. I have built over 100 swedes, used to sporterize, set headspace on the unissued 96's coming in the country ,late80's, and early 90's. I have built several on Savage 110 long actions also. I ran these loads on a Quick load computer program, came out super effecient and safe recently. If interested in these, pm me. Barrells were 1-7&1/2 and 8 twist. My sporter barrel deer/varmint rifle still shoots 1/2 moa out to 400yds, and I use mainly 120 and 85 grain Sierra bullets. I shot a local sniper/ hunter match some years back, 12x scope limit and #10 rifle limit, and Shot a .277 3 shot group at 100 with 140 gr, 3/4 at 200. I was lot younger and better eyes too.
