6.5prc sizing die dimensions/clickers

I am starting to get clickers with my 7-6.5 PRC brass. I have my reamer spec at .535" to add extra clearance at the .200" line to prevent clickers. Fired brass measures .5342" at the pressure ring.

Sized brass measures .5332" at pressure ring. I believe my sizing die is not sizing enough. Saami spec calls for .532". I'm using a Redding sizing die.

Is a new die in order? Thoughts?

Thanks

Yep...New sizing die and new brass is in Order. Correct on both counts Sir.
Been there done that with Other calibers.
I use a Short Action custom sizing die...works beautifully with up to 9 reloads so far in the 7 PRCW

I've got a SAC modular sizer on the way!

I'll report back with sized dimensions With the new die. SAC claims it will work for Saami spec chambers. So this hopefully size down enough for my .535 reamer.

With the new die.. it may or may not fix your old brass. The brass will take a set and go back to it and the clickers may return.
The Fix is new brass and new Die.

The bullet central and cortina dies should size the most, and thats needed with this brass. Its much harder to size than most other cases I have worked with. The tougher brass has been great, but it also has made sizing much more difficult. You almost can not squeeze it too much.

Morbidly curious as to if a Willis die would work on a PRC, I don't remember, if I ever saw anyone mention using one on it.

Its not the Chamber as he used the same reamer I use..Wheeler.
Its just his Die is not sizing it down far enough and after a couple firings you get Clicker's

SAC die arrived today. This is by far the best die I've ever owned. The fit and finish is like no other. Inside of the die is mirror finish which makes sizing far smoother than any of my other sizing dies. I highly recommend them (if you can afford them).

So on to numbers. I sized a few of my problematic brass. Like I stated in my opening post, my fired brass pressure ring is at .5342. Sized with my Redding die is .5332-.5334. The SAC is sizing them down to .5320.

So the SAC is sizing the pressure ring down an extra .0012-.0014" smaller than my redding die. And that is .003" smaller that what my reamer is spec'd at.

All measurements are done with a Starrett Mic.

I have a pair of .280AI rifles that have been chambered with the same reamer but have different barrels and actions and one has clickers from virtually the first reload and the other has never had any at 4+...
Any ideas???
The "Clicker" is a Blake barrel mounted in a Pierce action the other non-clicker is a Swan {made in OZ/Qld} in a Remington action.
Both shooting the same brass/batch {Peterson} same primers, same load/head space/AOL.
