6.5mm Creedmoor vs 6.5mmx47 vs .260 Rem

Sorry I have been blowing up this forum with these questions on a 6.5mm cartridges. I am planning on shooting 1000 yard competitions in the future so this will be my first long range rifle. I reload all my own rounds so that will not be issue. I can't decide to go with the 6.5mm Creed or the 6.5mmx47 Lapua or .260 Rem. Please make this decision easier. I am leaning toward the Lapua becuase of the brass choices. Should they perform the same ? Thanks guys !!

I just went through the same issue. I bought a Rem700 short action, Manners stock, trigger, rings, rail, scope, bottom metal, magazines and a Bartlein 5R 1:8.5" twist 6.5mm barrel 2 months ago. I already knew I wanted to go with a 6.5mm, but couldnt figure out which cartridge. I finally decided on the 6.5-47 Lapua. The main and most important reason is accuracy! I keep hearing on this forum from LOTS of shooters about how crazy accurate it is and how easy it is to load for! I also wanted something with decent barrel life. Im new to F class and want to be competitive, but I dont have the $ nor time to put a new barrel on every 900 shots with a 6.5-284 or anything similar. Maybe in the future......? but not for now. Also the 6.5-47L is a little shorter than the 260 so I can fit the long 120-140 grain bullets in a AICS magazine. I never shot or owned a 260 so I have no comment on that. Same with the Creedmore, but I know you cant get Lapua brass for it. I also found that Grizzly.com has PT&G 6.5-47L reamers in stock. They are .294" no turn neck and .170" freebore for the 120-142 grain class bullets. Mine will be built in a month or so. Good luck on your pick.

If you can retrieve each and every piece of brass at a Match my advice is go 6.5x47, should you want to shoot precision(sniper) rifle matches go Creedmoor.

Lapua does in fact make .260 rem brass. So does every other brass manufacturer except winchester . No body makes brass for 6.5x47 except Lapua. So I guess it depends on your brass needs and desires. If you are shooting sniper matches lost brass adds up. I like my .260 a lot and am happy with it.

11 posts, even if all about the same topic, is hardly blowing up a forum. ;)

Better this than asking about Savage, for certain... at least IMO.

As to your choices, flip a coin. In my case, I chose one of each. But, the easiest is the Creedmoor, because of the availability and reasonable cost of factory ammo, which is a very attractive option when one doesn't have time to load ammo from scratch. Mile High Shooting Sports had (has?) very good pricing on Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. If you factor in the value of your time to any reasonable degree, rolling your own is surely not about saving money.
