Berger 130gr VLD TARGET Part #26403

Hey fella`s......
anyone have any luck and accuracy with this particular bullet i listed above with using Win StaBALL 6.5 powder? I`ve got a few of these bullets and a couple extra pounds of StaBALL 6.5 powder sitting around, like to use them up.

Thanks ;)

I have had good results with the StaBall 6.5 powder with both the Berger 130 gr. VLD and the 140 gr. hybrid target.

I loaded up some rounds last night to test today. I opened a brand new box of the Berger 130 VLD Target, found some 6mm (.243) mixed in the box. Unbelievable.... quality control slipping at Berger. Shameful. I don`t even own a 6mm. I`ll give them away to someone at the range today. Still means i got screwed out of a few 6.5mm bullets. Thanks Berger. :(

Why not call them? Very high likelihood they would make it right.

Have you shot shot any of the Berger 130 AR Hybrid? Any thoughts comparing them to the 130 VLD?
Ar hybrids are awesome especially if your magazine limited like 260 in a gasser and less finicky than the VLD
130 vld is a good bullet and a good BC and performance.

Tried Bergers (140 gr) after reloading 325 of them I gave up. Went to the Hornady 140 ELD match and my groups at 600 and 1000 yds shrank from 3" to 2" at 600 and 7" to 5" at 1000. Powder is H4350.
The Hornady 140 & 143 have shrunk my group sizes for me too. Also H4350 is my main powder.

Why not trade the Berger's for some Hornady's if that is what you like better. Save the wear on your barrel and use what works better.

I am a new first time long distance shooter. I am getting ready to reload for the first time. I have 140 Hornady ELD match bullets and StaBall 65 powder. Does anyone have a velocity chart for this powder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Seen the same

My go to powder for my 6.5mm CM rifles is H4350.
I did try some StaBALL 6.5 to see how it worked.
I had a hard job finding data for StaBALL 6.5 and finally found it on QuickLOAD.

Maybe this will help.
I shot Nosler RDF #49624 bullets.
43.4 gr of StaBALL 6.5 loaded at OAL of 2.873 to 2.875 yielded 2655 to 2656 fps MV and averaged .386 inches for 13 5-round groups at 100 yds.
41.5 grs of H4350 loaded at 2.876 OAL yielded 2762 fps and averaged 0.297 for 4 5-round groups at 100 yds.
41.1 grs of H4350 loaded at 2.870 OAL yielded 2739 fps and averaged 0.281 for 4 5-round groups at 100 yards.
After that comparison, I didn't bother with StaBALL 6.5 any longer.

Incidently, StaBALL Match (more suited to .223 heavy bullets or 0.308 and .22-250) has no data on QuickLOAD. So for that powder, I have no idea how to load it.
