6.5mm 95 grain VMAX

Does anyone have experience with this bullet in a /284 class or bigger case and an 8 twist barrel?
My rifle is throated for the 142 Sierras and I thought the VMAX might be fun for groundhogs.

140 amax work very well, you probably will not even get close to the lands with the vmax

I figured on a healthy jump.
I shoot Sierra 60's out of a 6mm Rem with a jump and they shoot great, but that is a 1/9 twist and Sierras, in my experience, tend to shoot well off the lands.
I knew that the AMAX's liked a closer seating and wasn't sure how tolerant the VMAX's are.
Is a 140 AMAX enough to anchor a groundhog?

Been wondering the same thing. I have a box of the 95 gr V-max's and a 6.5X47 8" twist Shilen barrel but have not tried them yet. I shoot 120 gr Nosler BalTips and 130 gr Bergers, they are great, but have not tried the Hornadys yet. Let you know when I try them.

My 6.5x284 has a 1-8.5 30" Krieger and it was throated to shoot the 139grn Lapua Scenar. I never thought it would shoot the 95gn V-Max bullets. Well

I decided I wanted to try the 95grn V-Max,so I bought a box and loaded them up with 53grns of H4350 " Work up to this load!!!!!!. Wow, to my surprise they shot very well and very accurate. I was getting 3650fps with this bullet and it was impressive on varmints out to 800 yards.

All you can do is try it out. It might work well or it might be a bust.
