6.5cm & N150

Does anybody here have experience using N150 powder in 6.5 creedmoor?

I am currently looking at alternatives to H4350, as it seems damn near impossible to source. I have 2 lbs of N150 to try. The VV website lists some very conservative loads, so I'm not sure where exactly I should be starting my load development at.

I plan on using it with Lapua brass, CCI BR4's, Nosler & Berger 140's. My barrel seems to like a velocity node of 2780 fps with 140 grain bullets. My Lapua brass load with H4350 is 42.5 grains, which yields 2780-2790 fps.

Any help is appreciated.

I tried N150 and didn't like it. I could get a good working load at 65 degree ambient, but when the weather got hot, my accuracy went all over the place and pressures got way up there quickly. When I can't find H4350, and I can usually find IMR 4350, and in my rifle, I find very little difference either on the chrono or the target between the two.

Definitely not what I wanted to hear about N150. I live in Texas, so the temp swings can be fairly dramatic.

The reports for temp sensitivity of N150 seems to be all over the place. Some say it's very temp sensitive, where some other reports say it's temp insensitive.

I've heard mixed things about the IMR 4350 as well. Some people say H4831 SC is a good powder sensitive alternative. Slower than H4350, but I'm not pushing my stuff too hard anyways.

Regardless, I'm heading back to town today, and I'm going to try out the N150. If it doesn't work, back to the drawing board....

kthomas,
Do your load work up when its hot. That will help . I shot N-550 in my PALMA rifle. Did all the load work when the temps were in the high 80s and had no pressure issues when it got hotter during matches. N-150 is supposed to be the powder that VIHTAVUORI is working on as far as temp stability right now. For help with load data for N-150 contact us here :http://www.bergerbullets.com/contact-us/ and address your message to Bob with the cartridge, powder and bullet weight and type. Hope this helps!
Take care,
