6.5 x284 barrel length

I am thinking about putting a 6.5x284 barrel on my cz550 and wonder what length to go with? I will be shooting up to 1000. Thanks

I just got a 260AI with a 30". With a 6.5x284 there is a lot of bang behind that relatively small bullet, any extra barrel length you can stand hauling around will help it out. 30" seems to be more or less a typical max, but you can get longer.

I've got 'em from 18" to 31".

Generally, the more the merrier, but you need to look at the barrel length as just one part of the package.

Is this a sporter or target rifle? All you really need is enough to keep you bullets supersonic to the distance you are shooting so with the 6.5-284. this is about any reasonable length. I made my last two 25" and I can get about 3200 with 130s. Haven't rung out the 140s but I can see 3000-3050 real easy. The longer they are the stiffer they need to be...
