6.5 x 47L on steroids

I was sizing down some 243's to see what the super x is going to look like and i thought what if you did that with the 6.5 x 47 die. I expanded the necks to 6.5 then ran the 6.5x47die down till the neck was the same as 6.5 x 47. has any body done this before? it's really nice.........jim

Jim,
I think they are all the samething. The BR,XC, 6.5x47 all have the same shoulder angle an neck. So it really doesn't make much difference which one you use to make the superX its just easier with the XC die an a shim.

Raptor, thats what i said, this is the same deal. you take the 6.5 x 47 die and 243 brass and do the same thing. it moves the shoulder ahead app. .140 this should move that 130 bullet over 3000. no trimming,forms better than the super x.......jim

Cheechako, I was just trying to find out if anybody tried it.A long 6.5 x 47. K&M 6 mm. expander and a forster FLdie and there it is.for those who don't like the small primer,brass is cheeper......sounds like a winter project. jim

I can almost bet that there's not much that hasn't been done. Without looking through my collection I can think of one that is probably an exact copy of what you suggested. The 6.5 SOS. ,Stands for Sosenko.) You won't find a lot of 6.5s because good bullets haven't been available all that long. 6mm is a different story.

Yep its been done already.

Again Robert Whitley has made this case and it has performed really well for him. Since you have mocked up a case you will see how good looking a case this is. Really well balanced looking to my eye anyway. Not much gain over a 260Rem or 260 AI but Like I always like to say, sometimes folkes just like to tinker and thats OK too. Without wildcating we would all be shooting 30/30's

Maybe Robert will wade in and give some specs on his 6.5mm SuperX.

I have that exact configuration with a Krieger bbl. All I'll say is you are in for a boatload of good times! Mine is a hammer!
