6.5 X 47, Reloader 16, 140 gr. bullets

Howdy,
I did search this prior to posting. Looking for a starting powder weight for Reloader 16 powder in the 6.5 X 47 cartridge, with 140 gr. bullets. I did ask Alliant and got the non SAAMI excuse. thanks much

Why did they refuse to give you info because its non SAAMI? That is dumb on their part.

Anyway what bullet is it? There are a lot of 140s out there. Different ones will need a different starting load.

The load I use in my 6.5x47 is 38.6 with 140g Berger VLD and 142g matchking bullets. If you reduce 10% below that you should be safe. I can go higher but that’s where the accuracy is for my rifle. Hope that helps you get started.

Look here. It gives some good insight as to how Re-16 performs even though it doesn't specifically give info on the 140 grain bullet. Your rifle may preform a little different and you will have to do some testing to find what you are looking for.

I cant find RE16 in the Pensacola/Mobile area and dont need to order on line more powder or primers to mix a pound into.

Ive got a bunch of 139 scenars and 130 berger vld loaded up with RL16 to do some ladder tests in the next few weeks. went in 0.3g increments from 38.5 to around 41g for both.
