6.5 x 47 lapua or 6 dasher?

Has anybody got any good results with the 6.5x47 lapua?
Im currently building a bench rest for 300,600,1000 yard shooting and i cant decide which one to build..
Can anybody help with caliber/bullet grain/twist for either?
I would like start with a winning combination to begin with.

Many thanks
Mike

The 6.5x47 hasn't been proven as only a handful of people have gotten hold of brass,I'm still waiting myself). I have a 6Dasher barrel but would opt for a 6.5x47 should I want another mid-range barrel to replace this one. The Dasher brass is more work to make and brass doesn't last that long,5-6 firings) in my experience. The 6.5x47 does what the Dasher does, but with less pressure and probably longer barrel life; my dasher is at 1400 and shows cracking rifling whereas my 6PPC with 4700 is still clean,no noticable cracking). Even when using soft, okay, not HOT) loads, you still have the same ballistics as the Dasher.

Jim,

Great info..thanks very much.
It looks like I'm swaying to the 6.5x47 lapua.
I have the the brass which i used to fire form for my 6mmxc which by the way didn't work out to well....my accuracy suffered badly, i'm not sure if it was from the small neck length after fire forming or 38g H4350 is to much powder for the the small mag primers,CCI 450).

what would be the bullet weight to shoot in the 6.5x47
140g with a 1:7 twist or 120g with a 1:8 twist? does anybody know?

again thanks very much for your help

I shoot 140s with a 1:8 twist in 260 Rem. Given that the 6.5X47 is achieving pretty much 260 Rem velocities, I don't see the need for anything faster than 1:8.

Hi there,

I'm currently using a 6.5x47 cartridge based on a reamer that Dave Kiff manufactured for me, years ago. It was a 6.5-243 Imp 30°. I had the idea to use the 47mm version right away, fireforming 22/250 cases, along with Fed's 210 match, Vihta N550,38.5grains) and Lapua 123's moly.
In a PacNor 27", 1~8" it worked beautifully.
I'm looking forward to use Lapua brass with the small primer pocket as soon as it's available.

Best regards.
