6.5 x 47 Lapua Data

I have been searching the forums for 6.5 x 47 Lapua data and have not been able to find a comprehensive thread. I am picking up a rifle in this caliber (with an 8 twist barrel) very soon and wanted to start formulating a game plan if you will (my Hornaday reloading manual does not have 6.5 x 47 listed). I have found many threads with scattered bits of info, but nothing substantial. I was hoping to start something more orginized here. I plan on posting this same topic in the "Big Stuff" forum with a link here.
Thanks,
Mitch

The only published data that I'm aware of is in the vihtavuori loading manual and only vihtavuori powder is listed.

I've worked with 3 different barrels chambered in 6.5X47 Lapua. The powders that I've tried are Reloaded 15, N 140, Norma 203B, H 4350 and Reloader 17. I found that the charges ranged from 38 grains to 41 grains depending on the flavor. Norma 203B and H4350 were the most accurate but if your'e going to shoot bullets in the140 weight range, you really need to try and make the Reloaded 17 work, as it gives much better velocity than anything else.

The best combo that I've worked with so far is a 1-9 twist barrel shooting 130 grain Berger VLD bullets.

I feel that the real strength of the 6.5X47 lapua cartridge is that it feeds out of just about any magazine, with heavy bullets seated above the donut. It won't give you the velocity of other 6.5's but barrel life is superior.

I shoot F-class 1000 yards with my 6.5X47. It is a very accurate cartridge and with a 1-8.5 twist barrel with 123 Lapua bullets I have shot several .3-.4 inch groups at 200y off the bench. My powder of choice with the 123 lapua is R15 in the 37-38 grain range with cci BR4 primers, bullet seated .012 into the lands.

I have been using RE15 shooting the JLK 130s with 38 grains of powder and using CCI 450s. Seems to be two accuracy nodes with my gun. One is around the 37 grain mark and the other is around 38 grains. I am shooting a 26 inch tube and getting 2875 out of the 38 grain load or RE15. My load is not quite there yet and needs to go up some to hit the high accuracy node. Not sure if I will get there without pressure signs. The 38 grains is a pretty hot load in my gun. I am thinking about going down to the 37 grain node for better accuracy.

I have 25" 8.5T barrel. I shoot Berg. 130 VLD's @ 2860 with 42.1 of H4350. RL 15 didn't work at all and Varget was good. CCI 450's. The CCI's are almost gone will soon be trying a new work up with Wolfs.
