6.5 x 47 lapua and reloader 17

Has any one tried reloader 17 with 130 bergers or any other bullets , and if so how were your results ?

RL17's the powder I use with 130VLDs & 140s in my 6.5x47s. I get a little over 2900fps out of the 130s, and just over 2800 out of the 140s in 28" & 30" bbls. I ran both bullets faster while working up loads, but found better accuracy at the lower levels mentioned.

I used it with 139 gr. Lapua Scenars, it shot good.

Russ,
I would say your barrel is a real shooter ! Thank you very much for your great info !!!

And thank you everyone else as well.

Russ,
I am shooting a model 12 target action myself.
I notice that your velocities are rather low. Is that to keep pressure signs down on your brass ?

I am seeing a lot of pressure signs on my primers with most of the loads I have tried so far, and I have been starting around 37 gr and working up. I am getting serious cratering. not sure if it is the wolf magnum primers that is causing that ?

No, those loads were the most accurate that I tried. The faster loads were not as accurate. I never hit any pressure signs. I'll give up some velocity for accuracy. ;D

After reading this thread I started tinkering with RL17. I've had decent results with RL15 and Varget but never really consistent. With RL17 I finally feel like my rifle is starting to deliver. Berger 130 VLD's, BR4 primers, Stiller Predator V with 29" Brux.

Jhord,
what kind of groups were you getting before, and what are you getting with r-17 now ?

Hi I´m new here.
I use VV powder N550 39,7g, scenar 123g, Oal 69,5mm, CCI BR primer, Lapua brass.
Stiller Predator action, Krieger 27" 8,5 twist.
Like to try RL 17 and 139 Scenar or 130 Berger ! If 8,5 twist is ok.
Then I need data 8)

I haven't been able to do any proper 100 yard group testing, but at 800 yards my 5-shot groups are about 1" tighter I would say. I have been able to shoot a handful of ~2.5" 5 shot groups at 800, with Varget or RL-15 that was the exception not the norm. More testing needed but I'm liking what I see with RL-17 so far.
