6.5 X 47 120gr VLD at 600yds.

A friend of mine called to let me know his 6.5X47 at 600yds with a 120gr VLD bullet shot flater, bucked wind better and grouped tighter than the 130 gr. VLD. He clocked the 120 at 3000+fps and the 130 at 2800+fps. He said the 120 bullet OAL was about as long as the 130. Just thought the 6.5X47 shooters might be interested.

are you talking about the JLK bullets? i think the use the same forming dies just the 120 has a samller core so they could be very close

The JLK 130 and the 140 are the same form factor.........jim

I was curious enough to look up the BCs, but I don't see 120gr VLDs as being available on Berger's website. 130's & 140's gr yes, but no 120's.

Sounds like a lot of pressure,.0015 over bore dia. I run the 130 JLK at 2950, BC is very high like .600,i can not see a 120 shooting flatter or having less wind drift at 1K. The 140 @ 2968 is even better all these are out of a 47. ES on these are 14 or under...........jim

Bob Cauteruccio makes a 120 VLD and will make them lighter on request. He has made them as light as 114 grains for me. There is a guns of the week article on the 6.5x47 that the guy used Bob's 120 VLD.
