6.5 x 284

I was considering using my rsaum action to build a 6.5 x 284 and was wondering if the bolt face was too big (.550 vs.501) and wouldn't give the any accuracy or other problems? If i need to buy a bolt, i may look at other options, given the short barrel life that the 6.5 causes.

Here's the question.. Do i need a standard or magnum bolt face for the 284?

Standard, it is a .473 case head. The design is a rebated rim from the ~.500 body.

Most folks are going the other way, from 6.5-284 to 7mm saum or other 7mm.

Since you need to buy a bolt, you might want to consider a 6.5X55AI. I know a top 1000 yard F-Class shooter who loves his and he has had experience with the 6.5X284, 284, 7mm SAUM, etc. There have been been many posts on the 6.5X55AI on this site.
