6.5 WSM

Greg Tannel built mine on a Stiller Python with a 30 inch tube,it has accounted for some long distance pd’s and C4 in pop cans out in Gateway Colorado and even a dinosaur in Vernal Utah at 1000 yards.I really like 67.0 of Retumbo and the Sierra 142MK with a 210M primer,3300fps.
It won’t last forever but it has given me a lot of fond memories so far.Heck it’s even been to the Dasher Dome;)

I can respect that. The 30 inch tube may have something to do with the extra speed.Retumbo seems to be perfect for this application, did a little testing with N-170,but I really didn’t do a lot of testing the Sierra and Berger 140 both shot in the .200’s so I decided to use this short lived beauty at reactive targets:D instead of a lot of load testing.Lots of new 6.5 bullets these days, perhaps if I build another I will try Rel-26 and some of these new ELD’s

I'M SHOOTING THE NEW 130GR GAMECHANGERS SIERRA'S IN IT AND ALSO IN 6.5 CREED AND A 6.5X47 WITH GREAT ACCURACY RESULTS 17VLD IS YOUR 6.5 WSM A NO TURN NECK OR WHAT'S YOUR REMEAR SPEC'S

I have had good results with Retumbo, H1000 and H4831sc as well. All have ended up shooting the best right around the 3150ish mark as well for me and left it up to the barrel to let me know what powder it preferred. When I had mine it preferred H4831sc but the last couple I have built seemed to enjoy H1000 best. There is definitely a node with the 140s at the 3150ish mark and pushed any harder seemed to open up for me.

Mine has a .289 neck diameter so. I do have to neck turn the brass.I have always heard that VLDs don’t do well above 3300fps and felt that I was lucky to find an accuracy node right close to 3300 so I stopped at that node.My Dasher with 105s loves to shoot at 3150,a very good spot for that rifle too.

I'm going to chamber either a WSM or SAUM. Can't decide.
I have always likeed Remington and the cartridges that they make,if I was to do it again I might probably pick the SAUM case, especially if it was an XP.
Although Ernie has enjoyed his Pink Panther/Leopard in his XP.I think sometimes less is more as far as barrel Life goes:D

A .289 neck diameter? Mine used at .263 bushing, and loaded round was .265. This was with 270 wsm brass necked down. With a 24” barrel I found best accuracy around 3080-3090 with 143 eldx.

You have your numbers off. If you are loaded at .265 Subtract .264 for your bullet diameter and your necks would be a half thou thick.
