6.5 SAUM No handloading

I plan on getting a custom built rifle, there’s only a few calibers in stock to choose from at the moment. Out of the 6.5’s it’s either a CM or SAUM, I already have a CM since I do not handload is getting the SAUM a bad idea? Where can I get ammo for it if I choose it?

It is a bad idea if you do not handload. Very costly to have someone work up the loads and.load them.if you want morr power than the CM look at a 6.5-284 or 6.5 pcr.
Usually, factory ammo is less accurate than a custom load but it works well for non competition or hunting.

6.5x284, 264wm, 260rem, 26nosler
Not sure if youre stuck on a 6.5 or why but theres a big selection of other calibers with factory ammo. 243 is a good choice, 308win, 30-06, 280ai, 223rem up to 338lm

There’s only a few barreled calibers in stock with the custom rifle I want so that’s why I asked the question between the 2.

Don't get a dusty ole' antique like the 243 though. You should get a modern, super accurate, shoots-like-a-laser, 6 Creedmoor ;). On a more serious note, you will find factory "match" ammo for a 6 Creedmoor more readily than 243. 243 factory ammo is pretty deer-centric everywhere.

Just get a 6.5 Creed and call it good. The caliber has been around long enough it has decent backing for commercial ammo.

Others might go the way of the dodo like 260 Rem factory ammo.

A custom gun is what you want. Not what they have. You are taking a big chance your custom gun will like a factory load. Better buying a Tikka.

I will start reloading eventually just need to get equipment and learn up. Wish I had someone to teach me, I guess books and YouTube will be my best friends...

Or your worst enemy. If you listed your location in your profile somebody close could help you not buy unneccesary junk

Good advice from Dusty. I have little regard for many things on You Tube. There are good reloading manuels but an experienced loader would be invaluable help.
