6.5 SAUM Hornady brass shellholder.

Lions don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
What shellholder are people using for the Hornady brass? I bought the RCBS recommended shellholder for 7 SAUM (#38) and it is a little tight. I'd like a shellholder that is smoother to slide into. I hate it when it gets hung up and I dump a load of powder.

I have the Hornady# H5 shell holder, however about 5% of the cases won't fit, so I bought a lee shell holder (#5) it is looser and they all fit. Alas, when I use it sometimes with my priming tool, because it is loose my primers don't get seated all the way in and I have to resort to another tool.

P.S. I use Norma brass not Hornady,

dang. Sounds like a problem that won't be solved by simply buying another holder. However, I use a Hollands Primer seater which neads a shellholder too. Maybe i can use the rcbs one there and order a lee 5 for loading. thanks, Jerry

I have several shell holders #4 RCBS and #38 shell holders. Of all of these I would say 1 of my #38 will fit. Was very frustrating with my first outing with tournament brass that wasn't Lapua. I had 80'ish of the 250 piece case that wouldn't go through any of my shell holders. I called RCBS who sent me a 3rd #38 shell holder that finally allowed me to finish prepping the brass. I emailed Norma asking about the inconsistencies with the case heads. NO ANSWER....! Oh well I have shell holders now that will kind of work. I have since ordered a Forster Press. So I guess the inconsistencies on the case heads won't matter now.

Oops. Sorry I just saw HORNADY. Ok well same issue on Norma Brass

ps: @Joe R ...when you decide to buy another AMP annealer. get a LEE number 5 shell holder for your SAUM. there is plenty of room without "sticky" hot brass from easily slipping out of the shell holder! (yes I have sort of a collection of SAUM shell holders)

For future reference in case someone else reads this and it helps, I was using Bartram 7SAUM brass for a 6.5 GAP/SAUM and had cases jumping out of my Lee shellholder (about 1/10) when I was seating primers so used the guidance here to pick up a Hornady #5 shell holder hoping to solve the problem. Thanks for the input provided further up the thread!
