6.5 SAUM COAL?

Phil

Does anyone shoot a GAP 6.5 4S ( SAUM ) with a 130 Berger?????

I`m curious what the cartridge over all length is with the 130 Berger and George`s reamer with the freebore of .081???

Thanks,

Phil.

this is from one of George's posts on snipershide, the new reamer has the.081 freebore

A10XRifle:
Because the Reamer change seems to have a lot of guy’s concerned I thought I would measure different bullets to the lands in both chambers for everyone so everyone can understand the need for the change.
Measurements are COAL to the lands
Case: Rem 6.5 SAUM 4S

Old Reamer Most rifles built had this chamber through July of 2013

140 Berger Hybrid 2.960
140 JLK 2.965
130 JLK 2.965
130 Berger VLD 2.910
140 AMAX 2.880

New Reamer after July or 2013

140 Berger Hybrid 2.920
140 JLK 2.925
130 JLK 2.925
130 Berger VLD 2.860
140 AMAX 2.830

Basically a .040 - .050 depending on type of bullet

my 6.5 rsaum's or (gap 4S) have all been as fallows:

Defiance deviant actions
Bartlein 8.5" twist 26" finish chambered in 6.5 rsaum .298" neck .081" freebore
mag feed 130 berger vld hunting COAL 2.854" touching lands

very very accurate and have shot 140 accubonds in them also with stellar accuracy

P.S.

Thanks for the numbers guy`s.......

How far in the case is the bottom of the bullet???

How much case capacity compromised??

Phil.

Phil this case is really nice and fits the 6.5 @ 284 cal bullets very well in a short action platform. with the 130 seated as stated before the boat tail ogive junction sit just a tad below shoulder/neck junction using up little no case capacity and still have plenty of room in mag to chase the lands as the throat burns in.

How would a 155 gr VLD work in this cartridge? I've been told by a shooter who used it in his 6.5/284 at 1000 yd event that
it did really well at 2650 FPS in his 8" twist. If anyone would like to see a picture of this bullet, send an email to
