6.5 mm Cartridge Choice

Guys I have decided to order a new Cooper Varmint Laminate. They are now making it left handed-so I have to have one. I want a 6.5 mm cartridge. Now I need to decide which one. My choices are 260 Remington, 6.5X55 Swede, and 6.5 Creedmore.

Which one do you guys like?? Please explain why?? What kind of velocities can I expect from a modern 6.5 Swede,139 or 140 grain pill)?? Thanks, Tom.

Having had one, I love the Swede. In a modern action it can be loaded up or down depending upon your needs and the one I built for my son on a Mauser '96 action with a Shilen barrel is my most accurate rifle bar none. Try 46 gr. of Reloader 19 under a 140 gr. bullet or 2650 fps or crank it up to 2750 - 2800 in your Cooper rifle. For hunting the Barnes TSX 130's work great and one can squeeze another 100 or more fps. out of them.

Having shot both the 260 rem and the creedmoor I can only coment on those 2. They are so identical they will do the same. The 260 has a advantage of being around longer so its on dealers shelves. The Creedmor seams to be geared more to the match shooter. Having that said i'm having a tactical rifle built in 6.5 Creedmoor as I write this.
Blue printed 700
Timney trigger
28' 1.25' 1-8 twist SS barrel
Accuracy International stock
Nightforce 8-32 scope

in a modern action like yours- the 6.5x55

loading manuals are kept low because of all the old ex-mil actions about
in a modern action- load it to 308 pressure levels and enjoys hundreds of FPS more speed

I had several 260rem build on rem700SA, and also 6.5X55 in a rem700LA, but I think that the 260rem are much more efficient round, I am able to get 140grain amax with 45grain H4831 around 2650fps, and the same bullet with 47.5grain of H4831 in 6.5X55SM and hopefully have to to do some chronograph next week to get further result.
