6.5 Grendel sml rfl prm

Lapua and Starline use Small Rifle. Hornady and Federal use small rifle. PPU uses LR .Also, I have some AA (Alexander Arms)that uses Small Rifle but supposedly is made by Lapua for AA.
Edited post: For some stupid reason I had Hornady and Federal using LR primers in my head but mistyped. Post corrected now..That's why you check written data from a loading book instead of the Internet... PPU and brass formed from 7.62x39 are the only ones I know that use LR primers. Laurie says PPU is now making SR primed brass. Consult loading data from manufacturers..

PPU now makes an 'improved' stronger Grendel case claimed to have been beefed up in critical areas. One part of the changes is a move to Small Rifle leaving more metal in the case-head. Unlike Lapua, the flash-hole remains the standard 2mm / 0.079" size.

They are all Small Primer pocket except for just a couple companies. PPU is Large rifle and so far has been the only one I have run across that is Large Rifle. There may be more but all major manufactures are small primer. Honrnady, Lapua, Alaxander Arms, Norma, Federal, ect ect.

Be aware that some, starline for sure, have the curiously large flash hole. If youre just plinking or losing brass like in a prs match then starline works real good

Likewise the newer production PPU SP case. I can't imagine why Starline and PPU didn't go for the small diameter (1.5mm) sized flash-hole alongside small primer. I've yet to load up any of the 100 PPUs I've just bought - it'll be interesting to see what effect, if any, this feature has on performance compared to Lapua.

In the UK, these cases cost some 45% less than Lapua, so if you were using the Grendel in a discipline with a high attrition rate they'd make sense as Dusty says. I use mine slowfire in a bolt gun, so case wastage through losing them on the range is nil.
