6.5 Dasher Velocities

Hi

Can anyone give a definite on the velocity obtainable with a 6.5 Dasher pushing 140 grain odd projectiles? Also, the same with a 120 grain odd projectile?

This little case intrigues me!

Thanks
AI

The 6.5 BR improved case I have will produce anywhere form 25xx to low 28xx. This is with barrel from 23 to 27 inches.

Mike Bryant did the chamber and I think Wilson did the dies, I'd have to check. I had Dave Kiff do the reamer.

how will it shoot the 120gr bullets? I would think the 120gr class of bullets would be best for the little engine that could!!

any updates on this round. i am thinking about doing a 6.5 dasher. i was thinking about using the 130 berger. there was an article in the guns of the week on a 6.5 grendel shooting these bullets out of an 8 twist and was getting mid 2700 fps out of a 28 inch barrel. since i love the BR case (shooting a 6BR in F-class), i think the 6.5 dasher would be a blast

I bet the barrel life should great at 2700, but 120 would be the biggest i would shoot. If you could get 130's up to 2700 that would be good but with the short neck on the Dasher case, the boat tail would take up a lot of room.........jim

In the article on the Grendel in Guns of the Week, I was shooting the original 130 JLK that were moly coated (I won't say what powder and load because I don't want some guy with any AR-15 trying to use that load since it was a pure bolt gun load).

When the 6.5x47 Lapua became available, the 130's were able to perform better and Grendel found its best use driving 108-114 grain bullets.

i am not really worried about velocity--should be able to get over 2700 fps with 130 bergers. the high BC would make it a good performer even at that velocity

I shoot the 115's in the Dasher and the BC of DTAC is .590 and i shoot the 130 JLK out of my 6.5x47 and they are about the same so it seems to be a wash @1K. The 130 is a lot shorter than the advertised length so there goes the BC........jim
