6.5 Creedmoor

Morning, does anyone use a bump die on the 6.5 Creedmoor case? I'm not asking about a body die. Forster doesn't make one. Could I look somewhere besides a custom die maker? Thanks for looking

As of this morning Forster does not offer bushing bump for this caliber hence my question for advice from someone who has alternative.

I use the Redding 6.5 CM body die to bump the shoulder and the bushing neck die to size the neck. Also use the body die to form 6.5 CM from Lapua 308 Palma brass. Turn the necks to what ever wall thickness I want.

I use the same 6.5 Creedmoor Redding Competition Reloading 3 Die set. I will neck size the cartridge and when they get a little tough to chamber, I will bump the shoulders. It works really well. The die is listed as a "body die" but from what I can tell, using the Sinclair Comparator/Bump Gauge shows the shoulders are pushed back consistently .001 to .0015.

Hope this gets you in the right direction. If not, you might want to read up on bumping the shoulder vs. full body sizing, they likely are different.

Thanks for the input. A body die even though it bumps the shoulder needs lubrication because it sizes the body. Sizing the body results in powder scale on inside of case loosening. Forster or custom bump die won't cause scaling. I am looking for a bump only die. I am looking for something over the counter. I am trying to avoid a custom die. From the response I might have to order a custom die. I was hoping someone was using a Forster die for another caliber with correct shoulder angle and length to do the job. Thanks, sorry for the long winded reply. Cheers

I have requested the bushing bump die from Forster as well. I don't know when they will have it available. I use a bushing bump for my 308Win and the ultra micrometer seater die. I turn with a Sinclair hand turner and expander mandrel. I am hoping tooling up for the Creedmoor is not going to be a pain.

I just started a custom rifle project with Krieger barrel and CZ550. I will have the barrel threaded to accept a suppressor or muzzle brake, depending on the Bill being passed. It will be months before the rifle is complete, so I have time to find the right reloading equipment.

Don't have that problem. Clean the cases with SS Pins and detergent before reloading.

Every case is now a "new" case that way. In time that "scale" builds up and slough's off on it's own. Not only can it alter the case capacity, when it breaks loose and goes down the barrel, who knows what it does.
