Being a short action, the longer heavier 6.5 bullets will be an issue. If you'll be happy with the likes of 140's or less, there shouldn't be any real problem. Can a Ruger RPR 6.5 Creedmoor be rechambered into a 6.5 284 and still function as a bolt repeater or does it end up being a single feed rifle only?
120 grain or shorter may work. Nothing longer. Can a Ruger RPR 6.5 Creedmoor be rechambered into a 6.5 284 and still function as a bolt repeater or does it end up being a single feed rifle only?
+1I shot 153.5 bergers out of my 6.5 x284 at 2.90 COAL before I throated it out, it was not optimal for sure, I was well below the neck shoulder junction with the pressure ring on the bullet. Case capacity suffered but 100 yd accuracy was still acceptable. If you are going to shoot 140+ gr bullets and expect to keep a repeater with the bullets seated optimally a mid length should be minimum and a long action better.
