6.5 creedmoor powders

I bought my wife a 6.5 Creedmoor for Xmas it shoots the factory Hornady ammo pretty good but I wanna see what it will do with hand loads with 140 grn bullets like 140 berger, 140 eld-m and 143 eld-x what powders tend to get best velocity and accuracy for the 6.5 Creedmoor I may also try some bullets in 120-130 grn range aswell

I would start with H4350. That is the powder Hodgdon chose for the first issues of their 140gr ammunition and seems to do well in a lot of Creedmoors.

Reactions: MSS
H4350 for 140's
H414 & XBR 8208 shot fairly well w 140 SMK's "jammed"
Also successfully used H4350 w 123 Amax & 130 Bergers but wound up going back to the 140's. Creed is not hard to get shooting good.

Older Thread ( sorry ! )
But, I am looking for a FAST / Flat, Long Range Deer & Antelope, Load ( which, POWDER ? ) to drive, the 135 grain, Classic Hunters, 140 gr. Elite Hunter or 143 gr. ELD-X, Bullet to,.. 2,900 FPS in, the 6.5 Creed. !
Heard that, 48 to 49 grains of, Alliant RL-26 ( with 135's ) is, the "King Powder" to do, THIS ??
QUESTION,. will it, ( RL-26 ) "burn out" my Barrel,.. much Faster ???
Any Experiences, Guys ??
THANKS, in advance !

I settled on RL26 with 140s & RL16 with 120s. Development is done. It sits in the safe waiting. If it's for a hunting load, how fast will you burn out your barrel at even 40 rounds per year?

Although I've never shot 40rds per year for hunting, I'd estimate a minimum of 25yrs barrel life.

I bought a pound RE26 after reading it was the cat's meow, never even opened the container. Mine likes H4350 with 140 class bullets and absolutely loves RE16 for 130 class. Have an 8lb jug of IMR4451 I suspect will shoot just as good as H4350 when I run out of it.

I will Varmint Hunt and Big Game hunt with, this Rifle ( will develop, 2 Loads ) and shoot Steel Plates
( practicing, Field Positions ) at least, 3 to 4 Times, each year ( 15 - 20 shots, per trip ) and I live CLOSE to, the Wide open, Desert so, Shooting / Playing with Loads is, one of, my Hobbies.
EXCESS Flame at, the Throat, does kinda, worry me ( LOL ) But agree, that, the Barrel will last, a Decade or, more !
I have, IMR 4350 and H4895, for, the 123 grain ELD-M's, Plus Staball and Vhit N-160 for, the 140's. Saw some pretty awesome Velocities for, RL-26 and was, curious, IF / WHAT, the "Trade off" was !
Thanks, for all your replies !

RL26 will get 2900+ with a 140, but it will also kill brass while doing it.
H4350 & 4451 are the go to powders for 27** fps with a 140. I run 42gr of 4350. They will all eat barrels.

What are you liking with the 140’s and 4451? Getting 2615 with this.
I have been loading just 39.9 on new Lapua brass. Last night I loaded 4 of each for a test at 39.9, 40.2, 40.5, 40.8,41.1, and 41.4 to do a test over my magneto-speed this weekend.
