6.5 Creedmoor brass trimming

The recommended trim length for the 6.5 creedmoor is 1.920- 1.910. Is there any issues with trimming to a shorter length (1.905) to allow to seat bullets so as not to touch the lands when using longer bullets?

Should be no issue. When I get new brass, I always trim it all to the shortest of the lot regardless of what that length is. Unless it is absurdly short, then I'll toss it. And of course chamfer inside and out. With 6,5 Creedmoor's steep shoulder it does NOT require a lot of trimming on subsequent reloading in my experience. Compared to something like 243 that requires trimming on a regular basis.

P.S. should move this to the reloading forum.

Changed to say does "NOT" require a lot of trimming.

Just seat the bullets deeper as needed. The issue might be brass buildup at the neck shoulder junction (inside doughnut), but there are ways to deal with that. Keep in mind when you seat big bullets deeper you will have to adjust the load as pressure might otherwise increase.

If the problem is bullet touching the lands and bearing surface of the bullet being below the end of the neck, trimming would make sense. That would take an odd bullet chamber combination but is possible.

The other possibility of a case being the correct length, but bullet touching would be if the base of the case to shoulder distance is too short. Too much headspace. This allows the bullet to contact before the shoulder. All the trimming in the world will not fix that.

A better explanation of what you’re trying to solve would help
