6.5 creedmoor and Reloader 15

picked up a TC Compass a couple of years ago for a gun to tractor carry for the occasional coyote and this spring played with a 100 grain Sierra bullet. Found a fantastic load with Reloader 15. Of course I only have a 1/2 a bottle left. Doesn't look like I'll find any around. First what's up with Alliant powder being so darn hard to get and is Imr 3031 a good substitute which I have plenty?

H4831sc for heavies..
AA2700, IMR4166 for lighter bullets
Never ever use H4350 in a Creedmoor.
It's not necessary, I never have!!
You should try it. 42.3g of H4350 with Berger 140 hybrids is a super accurate load for us. My 12yr old son shoots this from his gun and loves it.

When I got my 6five there was no H4350 to be found.
I looked and found other options that are stellar. Given today's climate on components I suggest everyone find something obscure to get the job done.
The results could astonish you.

Finding a non popular powder that shoots small groups is the trick. Then buying a bunch of it when nobody else wants in.

The only reference I've found in load books for the IMR 3031 powder for the 100-107gr category of bullets is @ XXL Reloading:

The XXL Reloading website lists IMR 3031 for the 107gr Sierra:
107gr Sierra MK HPBT -- IMR 3031, 34.9 - 38.3gr max, 3087 fps, 54085 psi, 100% burn, 86% fill

I'd agree with the others who suggest 3031's a bit fast for that bullet. Per the various burn rate charts, you might consider something more along the lines of Winchester 748, Winchester 760, H4064, H4895, for example. Each of these is relatively easy to acquire, frequently popping up at retailers. If you're set on that bullet weight.

MidSouth currently has 1lb jugs of Win 760, for example:

3031 shot the best groups in my 243 with 100 gr. one small hole. Dont underestimate it. It also shot amazing in my 250AI which is similar to CM
You have to realize these new guys haven’t experimented like us old guys have so if it’s not in a loading manual it can’t be done!…. Not necessarily a bad thing I don’t like hearing about mistakes that have went wrong. Personally I wouldn’t hesitate to use it,…. Worked great in several cartridges similar in capacity to the creedmoor

I meant that it’s fast compared to burn rate of powder mostly used in this cartridge. It can definitely be used, it just might hit pressure signs quicker.

I have 3 Mausers in 7x57mm that like I3031 with 140gr.

Tried RL15 with the 6.5C - 140 but didn't have the crhono at the time. Accuracy was not as goo as H-414, Staball

My cousins wife's brother used 3031 once.

Did anyone ever get around to answering the OP question. Jeez!
