6.5 Creedmoor and Quickload

I have V 3.6 in Quickload and it does not list the 6.5. Has anyone manually created a cartridge file? I created one today and would just like to compare parameters. I checked against the Hornady manual and the fps are very close to the results calculated in Quickload. I measured the H2O volume of new cases and they averaged approximately 51.5 gr.

I just received my 11/17/12 update disk and it has the "6.5 Creedmoor Hornady" case capacity as 53.5gr overflowing - the program stresses the "overflowing" part in many places. I'll be the first to admit that I have not quite adhered to that either and need to re-visit that value to drive out some inconsistencies.

Case Capacity Redux

One batch of fired Rem 7-08 brass that I use for my 260 weighs ~ 168.5 gr with primer. While on my freshly calibrated LnL powder thrower I was able to get up to 225.9gr (a big bubble above the case mouth) before the case 'overflowed' back down to 224.4gr (a smaller bubble above the case mouth) - the net result being 55.9gr. This is .5 gr more than I previously measure w/o the overflow.

I know some users have used a drop of soap or alcohol to reduce surface tension of the water but in reading all the documentation (I read & write & test computer spec for a living) I've realized it isn't meant to be "interpreted" as something else so I use straight water to overflowing now.

I have a second batch of Rem 7-08 brass that weighed 167.2gr and netted 56.5gr of water after overflow. The Win 243 brass had 56gr before so I probably need to check it too.

This might explain the some of the 'skew' - why the difference in measured velocity vs predicted velocity is greater as the load changes from where I 'calibrated' the nominal values - a powerful program but it does require a bit of work...

I'm done ranting and will get back to loading ammo...
