6.5 Creedmoor 108 Scenars

guys, my buddy has a Rugar American predator (22" barrel) and wants to shoot 108's. looking for powder recommendations. Got 414, 380, vn150 and Varget. Do have some 100v, 4350, 4831 but was thinking with short barrel these would be too slow. TIA for any suggestions

I have a couple of 6.5 Creedmoors in short barrel configurations but I usually run the heavier bullets for better efficiency. My first choice is VVN-135 which burns a little cooler so it's not the highest velocity but it runs at a lower pressure also. You can do a little better with VVN-140 but you can't quite fill the case before you achieve pressure. VVN-540 works good but it burns hotter at pressure.

Accurate 4064 is another powder which achieves balance between a full case, velocity and complete burning. Re-17 and IMR-3031 are very close to being perfect, just a tiny bit short.

I've had very good accuracy with 39.7 Varget in 24" Criterion AR with both 107 Sierra and 108 Scenar. 2950ish, from memory. Would think AR Comp a possible as well-it does quite well with 120-123 class bullets.

H-414 / W-760 will get most speed out of the 22" bbl. Work up to 46 gr and if velocity is below 3,100 fps you can keep going with the charge weight till you get around 3,150 fps which would be a safe MAX in my opinion.

You can get 3,050 - 3,100 fps with Varget. 41.5 gr (maybe 42gr) would be MAX.

Thx guys for the replies. We started with 380 and did a couple ladders but I don't think we're near max yet. Absolutely no 380 data to be found! I'm thinking vh150 next cause I've got 10lbs! We went up to 41.8gr 380 but no chrony and ladder was kinda all over the place/ only 4" vertical at 300 yds. Had fun though
