6.5 creed vs 30-30 win

There is no such thing as a "brush gun" except maybe the 505 Gibbs.:D
Forget the 30WCF for knock down power. Trade for a 308 or 30-06.
in the forest
I make 3 shooting lanes by clearing brush before season opens. Works for me with 30-06, Gave the 30WCF to son. Wall hanger now.

I hunt the same scenarios & generally think in terms of terminal performance, I don't like to have to trail wounded deer through the woods, rather have them pile up on the spot.

At 75yrds i dont need a 30-06, or a 308win to take deer. In my situation even those are over powered.
Remeber (know your target and what lays beyond.)
In most states in a court of law a person is responsible for there bullet from the moment they pull the trigger, untill that bullet rest safely on the ground.
I dont play around with the 10 commandments of firearm safty. Its kept me and those around me safe for many years
Not to sound like im preach-n
Im in an area with a shit load of big rocks..you cant shoot with out hearing a zing! Of the bullet bouncing of a rock when you take a shot in the forest.
Im more comfortable knowing my 30-30 will lose energy quicky, not have massive over panitratraion issues.
I dont understand the theory behind the thinking.
Let pick the state of ohio. We can now use straight wall cartridge for deer for quite a few years now
The reason we can only use straight wall cartridges is power level, and human population.
The idea is a straight wall cartridge will lose energy quickly and keep with in most folks property lines if care is taken.
Because of population growth and human proximity.
So the powers that be say its safe to use a few classic cartridges. Fantastic!, what fun..i absolutely hate shot guns..they are junk and sloppy as can be but thats me
And way we get to use low power cartridges so we dont kill our neighbors..then what happens.
The buck hammer, or what ever its called hits the market and a bunch of other cartridges to push the limits and the law..its just stupid and irresponsible in my opinion.
I know what the 30-06,25-06 can do.
I love both cartridges. Just not for this application
Ive had 30-06 blow right through deer no problem even after destroying the heart.
I dont have real world knowledge with a 308win only on paper.
The 30-30 is plenty.
I was just thinking about the two and figured i might want to find out before deer season..
I have a fat ground hog living at the end of my drive way..there are many ways i can take him out..but i most likely would need to shoot towards the main road. So i let him be. I just dont need the headache at my age. For 2mins of pink mist pleasure

Depends on how you're hunting. If you're walking and stalking the Marlin is a great carry rifle and handles well in those circumstances. On a stand the 6.5 bolt is better.
What is the reasoning behind your opinion? Have you had an experience that showed you this information.
Just looking for information..not being disrespectful i could see how my question could sound rude..that is not my intention..im just very curious

Only thing I ever associated with the term 'brush gun' was something short and stout with little of anything to get hung up on anything.
Hit anything with any bullet, the only thing you'll hit is something other that where your point of aim was.

Hahaha..i respect that.
A brush gun in my opinion is just what you said.
Its not a laser to fire through the forest like starwars..its just a compact sleed rifle that dont get snagged every time you shoulder it.
Ive carried a 26" barreled 300 rem ultra mag in the forest when i was young.
It took one hunting trip to discover my flaw hahaja..that barrel would catch on everything and that big old rifle was a major P.I.T.A that year.
Then i bought a 450 marlin soon as they hit the market. And used it for a few years. The marlin was a welcome game changer that season.
The 450 marlin is insane hahaha..its like a mini cannon ..you need a brush gun..get a 450 marlin...noting is stoping that cartridge..it will blow through saplings hahaha..

Yep. Just lift them, carry them through cover, quickly mount them to find which instantly comes to the eye; 9/10 will choose the Marlin.

If you're shooting through saplings, well......

I've nothing to say about that.
