6.5 C'more Hornady Match Grade Die..which bushing?

i'm finally getting to load some 6.5 creedmore with the Hornady Match Grade dies and realized that the neck bushing is sold separately. the catalog lists 10 different sizes and i'm not sure which one I want. they go from .284 to .293.....should I just start with something in the middle and work it from there or does someone have some experience to share....I hope.

Measure the neck of a loaded round with calipers and subtract .002 My 6.5 cm factory hornady rounds measure .290, So I bought .288 bushing

I see .288 is the middle of the range of choices. I guess i'll start there.....thanks.

What ever brass and bullet your going to be using is what you should measure. If you change brass the bushing will probably change as brass necks are different thickness. Even then you may end up with two or three bushings before it's over. But it's worth it. HB

once you take a measurement of the bullet and neck then what?

What you measure is a loaded round at the neck area. Each Brand of brass (Hornady, Lapua, Alpha, Starline) will be a little different in size or thickness in the neck area. I'm assuming you already reload for the Creedmoor and can do this with the equipment you have. Get that measurement and subtract .002 for a start bushing to try. If it helps I use a Wilson bushing resize die for my 6.5 CM and a .289 bushing sometimes .288 bushing. I'm resizing Hornady and Winchester brass for Hornady 147M. This brass is somewhat thin.
Maybe let the forum know what brass and bullets your using and they could be of more help. HB

I bet you don't get it right with just one bushing. Subtracting .002 is good for a start. I see you were going to start with one bushing, that's fine. You will size some cases with said bushing... Then you'll have to decide if you need or want more or less tension on how the bullet tension feels going into the case. Oooops, now you gotta order another! Took me 3 bushings, hope you get it right with one.

once fired Hornady brass.
Well. Here you go. Hornady 6.5 creedmoor eldm 140gr. .290, so .288 is the correct bushing if that’s the brass you reload

Norma brass I'm using a .288
Hornady brass .286, I tried the .288 but was able to move bullet with my fingers.
Using .287 on nosler brass.
So depending what brass you'll be working with will determine busging.
I believe my brother is using. 290 with alpha.

If you don’t mind, My ELD-X is .264 and each side of my Lapua brass is .015. I purchased a .292, .291 and .290 just to be safe. Does that sound about right. I don’t know if it matters, but I’m using the Redding Comp. S dies. Thanks a bunch!
