6.5 CM dies

i just got my 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, i want to get a set of dies to produce a good quality round with the least runout, i noticed factory ammo runs out between .003 and .006, as fas as choices go, i am reading good and bad about the Hornady new dimension dies. are they worth a try. i really dont want to spend $165.00 of the Redding type S FL sizer and micrometer seater, but everyone raves about them. i would like to stay with a bushing die in the full size stage. i see they are about the only ones out there. any suggestions, i was thinking of the lee 4 dies set. but for the price i am thinking twice, can anyone tell me how the runout is on the Lee collet die. open for suggestions.

The Redding set may be the least expensive in the long run. I don't have any experience with Redding or Hornady in the Creedmoor but the Redding is highly regarded.

I have the Lee four die set and it is giving too much variance for my liking. I have a Redding Type S resizer on order and will probably do something regarding the seating situation as well.

I hate to resort to turning necks but my Hornady case necks vary a little in thickness and that induces run out from the start.

I am curious can i purchase the Redding 36446 in 6.5 CM set without the micrometer adj section.

Chet,
You are way better off with the micrometer adjustment. I've had to add the mic head to almost all my Redding Dies. Those mic adjusters take out the guessing in adjustment and are much better to have.

hi alex
I hear you on the micrometer adj, i dont care for them, all my seating dies are set up in my presses with dial indicators on the top, being a toolmaker, i can see adj in tenths if needed either way up or down. no lash, they are fine for the loader who does not have the equipment to machine these parts' if i knew how to ul pics i would do it

Well Chet,
Just got through searching six distributors who carry that set, but all are Out of Stock. Now Forster appears to have them, but for $118+ whereas everyone else lists around $78. Your call but you might consider putting your name on a list for notification when they come back in stock. I know that caliber is ultra popular right now and everybody's brother must be buying up the Forster model because it appear some other brands may be available. As a suggestion, you might want to check with Whidden to see if they have a set or can make you one. Just a thought as an alternative. Good luck.
