6.5 bullets

Dear bullet manufacturers,
As a home hobbyist reloader and weekend match shooter I am in a specific market of products, TBD on market size. I happen to have several hand-me-down rifles of various 6.5mm chambers to cover the gambit of available twists and pressures. One product I am lacking in all respects is an affordable plinking 6.5mm bullet. I would love more than ever to hand on to the next generation some of my 6.5 chambered firearms; however, due to a lack of availability I either move up or down in caliber to find more affordable reloading components for training and practice.

I fully understand the business aspect and I believe that with the current surge in 6.5/.264 interest, this caliber fully deserves a few offerings of varmint/plinking rounds to compete with the .224 and .308 available products. I absolutely appreciate all of the wonderful offerings in various weights of accurate match grade and hunting projectiles, but please cater to us plinkers and varminters alike as we could use a projectile of lighter than 120gr at a price point that keeps .264 competitive with the classic diameters of .224 and .308.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Should you need a tester for new bullets, I'd be happy to help.

Whats wrong with these? Plenty good for plinking and varmints

I believe that he is asking for a cheaper FMJ design, like they make for 223 and 308. About all that is available for 6.5 is lighter Amax or Nosler custom comps.

Not directly to OP's post, but what is the heaviest bullet for the 6.5 Creedmoor?

Hornady makes a 160gr Round nose, and I have a mold for a 171gr cast bullet.

Anyone know where I can get bulk speer 90gr TNTs?

Thank you,
-Mac

What would be a good mold that be similar to the 100gn and 120gn Sierra? My 260 rem likes both. And also the same in nosler?

Fyi, I do have a box of the 160gn round nose. I don’t think they are made anymore and I will never use.

Just for reference; I can go varminting/plinking with me 223 using Hornady 55gr SP at $0.08 each that I bought in bulk.

I like my grendel's, and found 90 TNTs for ~0.15ea which is about right.

That's probably the difference in raw materials - extra lead and copper to get the bigger bullet.
