6.5 Barrels and lands

The lands on my 6.5x55 have very wide lands, a m70 and several swedes. A lot of surface area touching the bullet. Both with 7.9-1 twist

I was wondering what your bench rest 6.5 barrels are like.

Do they have narrower lands?

The width of the lands it determined by several different factors. The more lands in the barrel, the thinner they will be of course. 6.5mm barrels, as well as other calibers can be had with 2,3,4,5,6,never seen a 7, 8, and even more lands and grooves. Many opt for cut rifled 4 groove barrels, while others like 6 groove button barrels. Still others like 5R barrels and some swear by 3 groove barrels. I don't think there's any proof out there that says one is better than the other, just opinions.
Fat lands can work fine and so can skinny ones, just a matter of preference.
