6.5-47 verses 6.5-284

How does the range of a 6.5-47 hold up to a 6.5-284 using 140vld bullets? Can't decide witch to build. Will be using for long range deer and groundhog hunting. Some target shooting.

whats long range to you?

i'm gearing up a 6.5x47 lapua for an antelope hunt and figure 1k is my limit with 130's @ 690ft/lbs,more like 900yds)

,i reset my 100yd zero on the second group) in the ctr@900yds

the 6.5x284 would be a bit better but i will be running the 140's next,i have a 500yd load for them already but never went to 1k yet.

to sum it up,the 6.5x47 will do it@1k but the 6.5x284 should do it a little better

900x3 low due to 100yd zero being off.3.5'ctc farthest.

3,one in and 2 left of clay bird outlined bull is at 900yds with the 130's.

next up 140's,we'll let the mods move)
