6.5 300 wsm

Looking into a 6.5 300 WSM for a hunting rig. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this cartridge. I realize it's going to be a barrel muncher but I don"t plan on putting a whole heck of a lot of rounds through it. Once I get a load worked out it might get 200 rounds a year if that. Can anybody provide any load data/ or chrono results? I'm looking at shooting 140gr bullets, probably Berger VLD's. Any info you could hit me with would be appreciated.

Not sure about the 6.5 but I know my 25/300wsm is a tack driver and a great deer rifle!

I had a 6.5 WSM once and it was finicky to say the least. I built it on a 8tw Broughton and screwed the barrel off and sold the action after 200 rounds. The only advice I would offer you is to go with a 9 tw barrel.

Last season it proved to be a good 600 yard caliber at the varmit hunters assoc. shoots in Pierre, SD. I did order a reamer from ptg and thats about it.

6.5 sgs. 6.5x300wsm. I have the reamer specs at the shop. I think it would make a great deer round but a perfect solution to a problem that doesn't exist with the 6br and variations for 600 yard benchrest?

I was shooting the Berger 140 VLD with I think 70 grains of Retumbo (not positive but think so). Velocities were around 3325-3350. I had issues getting the gun to shoot consistant and kinda just gave up on it. When we looked at the throat with the bore scope it was gator skinned pretty bad.

I bought a barrel chambered in 6.5 SGS from one of those VHA shooters, it was my understanding that that cartridge is a SAUM case with the shoulder pushed back to equal capacity of the 6.5-284. I can't check it because I cut the chamber off and rechambered it for a 6.5 Creedmoor. The only 6.5 Magnum that I saw shoot real good there was Aaron Rogers 6.5 SAUM. If there were some 6.5x300 WSMs that performed well I'd be interested, maybe I just missed them in the match results, wouldn't be the first time.
