6.5-284 on M98 Mauser

I am looking for advice on my target rifle. Won't do worth a darn at 100 yards. It is a 1942 large ring Mauser, with a 1:9 Douglas XX medium contour barrel, and double set triggers. I bedded it into a Boyds laminate stock and am shooting 140 SMK bullets. Should I drop back to 130's, or give up on the M98 and find a M700.,The reciever was given to me by my grandfather, so I tried it). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 1:9 barrel could be maginal with the heavier bullets, try the 130s and even the 123s before you give up. Be a shame to have a double set trigger Mauser and not figure out a good load for it.
