6.5-284 NORMA brass

could anyone please tell me the neck thickness of Norma brand brass for the 6.5-284 ?
also how does this brass compare to Lapua.

Hard telling. A few years back I bought 500 pieces of Norma 6.5 X 284. Neck thickness varied from .012" to .017", a few even worse. Even contacted Norma drectly and sent them representative samples but no offer of replacement with better product. Out of that 500 cases, less than 100 were good to go out of the box.

Buy Lapua, period.

If you're talking about Lapua 6.5-284 Norma brass, then my lot of brass is measuring around 0.014-0.0155" average. Had a couple in the 0.013 and a couple in the 0.016" area at some points.

If you wanted to know about weight, then I only had about 7 pieces of brass fall out of a 2 grain spread and that was out of 400 pieces of brass.

There are a lot of guys that has shot 6.5 284 more than I have but I found Norma brass as consistent as Lapua but in trimming I think the Norma feels a little softer to me.Which I think is a good thing in trying to get several firings out of a case and delaying the work hardened process.

Been buying both Lapua and Norma brass for the 18 years that I've been shooting this cartridge. Both brands have had their up and downs through this time period. Buy a hundred or two hundred cases of either, trim, neck turn, and sort by weight in that order. Save any really bad cases, and send back for replacement.

I have been neck turning some, about 50 Norma cases and they have been about .0145" to .016" for this small sample.
