Hi guys, I started load development in my 6.5-284 today with h1000 powder. I used 1x fired lapua brass with flash holes cleaned up and neck sized 2 thou neck tension. The primers were federal gm215m, (I tried a quick five round group with 210 primers last week and wasn't pleased). I used 140gr Berger VLD's without trimmed and pointed meplats, jammed 10".
I believe I'm starting to find two accuracy nodes between 54.5-55gr and another at 55.7-56.1gr
I didn't have my chrony with me today, as it was involved in a shooting and doesn't seem to work anymore, so patiently waiting for a labradar to arrive. Velocity estimates in quick load are as follows
Jammed 10". Jumped 25"
54.6 2971 2878
54.9 2987 2895
55.8 3034 2947
56.1 3050 2964
I really need to validate these as soon as the new unit arives. I'm really hoping the h1000 and being in the 2950 range gives me around 1800 rds of barrel life. All my shooting was off a bipod. I will circle back to a couple of those groups and play with the charge +\- .1gr and I'll try jumping them 25" to see if that helps.
