6.5 140 grain custom bullets question.

Looking to try a new custom bullet, not a Berger. I've been using Berger and here lately there's been so many inconsistencies. It's taking forever to sort these things out. I'd love it if Bart, Vapor Trail or someone of that caliber would make them. Has anyone here tried any custom made 6.5 bullets? If so please point me in the right direction.

By no means am I slamming Berger, they've kept me in the HM ranking, just looking for that little extra advantage.

JLK makes a very good 140gr. I really like the Precision Ballistics 142's and shoot those when available. Don has had a very tough time getting J4 jackets to make the 142's and I shot alternative bullets this past year. I recently acquired more and the great/consistent grouping came back to two different barrels. They are expensive compared to others however but worth it to me.
 
Matrix Ballistics just came out with a 146grn in 6.5. I've got a couple of boxes from him but have yet to shoot any since the weather turned to crap on me.
They weight and measure pretty consistent….but can't say how they perform yet.


Edit: I don't think he has them listed on his sight yet. He emailed me and wanted to know if I'd like to give them a try....so if interested you'd have to email him.

I tried the Matrix Ballistics 142 a few years back. They shot very well in the barrel I was using. When I decided to buy bulk I could not get them due to some trade policy related crap that put a temporary hold on these sort of items from Canada. I have not tried them since but they were very consistent in weight, BTO, bearing surface and grouping.

Darrin, have you thought about Lapua's 139gr Scenars?

Matrix has no problems shipping to the US now. The only issue is getting quality jackets on a consistent basis like all custom bullet manufacturers. The 146 is listed on the website now.
