6.5 140 Gr. Sierra Game Kings?

Would like to hear about the performance of this bullet from people that have actually taken deer with it. I'm thinking of using them on whitetails out of my 6.5X47 Lapua. Thank you in advance.

The game king is a fantastic bullet regardless of caliber, it always seems to perform very well. I have had great success with the 142 Match king as well. It performs very similar to the Berger VLD and is devastating on game especially at longer ranges.

The standard game king is a fantastic cup and core bullet. I've taken at least a dozen white tails with them (up to 220 pounds) and they've worked perfectly. For the price, I don't believe there is anything better. The tipped game king (gamechanger) is also a very good bullet.

The 140 game king is very accurate and extremely easy to tune. I have been able to shoot well under 1/2 moa in 6.5 with multiple rifles.

Thank you for the info, just ordered some 130Gr TGK's from blue collar reloading but doubt they'll be here in time for hunting season, since it opens this Saturday. Very encouraged by your report on the TGK's, once again thank you and continued success with that beautiful old rifle.

I really like the gamekings a lot. I have used the 140’s in a 6.5x284 to shoot several deer and an elk. My rifle had a short barrel, and I loaded for accuracy not speed. It probably was at about the same speed as you’ll be pushing the 6.5x47. I did not recover any bullets, even on the elk cow. None of my shots were long, 200 or so on elk if that far. Deer were even less. The deer did run off, very short tracking job, just due to the brushy areas. Nothing went over 75 yards. They didn’t do much meat damage either. I ended up going to lighter bullets that would open up a little quicker, the Sierra 100grain HP. It would hammer a deer with chest shots. I wouldn’t shoulder shoot one thou, there would be lots of meat lost. I have moved on from the caliber now, but love the 120-130 grain bullets I currently shoot in my 6.5 creedmoor. 129LRAB is probably my favorite with the 130TGK neck and neck with it. I also really like the 120spt Sierra bullet. Sierra also makes a 130HPBT. Dang those things shoot amazing. They hold together way more than you’d realize too. Again I’ve never recovered one after shooting anything with them, including black bear and deer, from a 6.5x55 or 6.5cm

I think we use more soft point in 30-30 lever gun than tipped bullets on white tail and black bear, for us they knock down the animal with not much meat loss, whereas the Accubond type in a bolt gun just blow right through them at shorter ranges so we kinda save the long guns for more open areas and longer shots where we need a good blood trails.
I do run a 308 with the soft point but not the exact caliber asked about.
