6.5 107g sierra matchking

If anyone has these can someone please tell me the base to ogive length of these bullets?? I emailed sierra and they won't give them to me as they say it varies from batch to batch. I'm just looking for some average numbers to compare to my 123 scenars

Never could get them to shoot in my 260 course rifle. Seemed to be picky about jump and how much bearing surface was in the neck of the case like the 135gr .30cal. I shot the 123's all the way through then went to 85gr Sierra Hunting bullets/95gr V-max/whatever cheap little bullet I can find for 200yd line.

Shawn,

That was not my experience with both of my 260 barrels. Shilen was #1 and the current is McGowen. I originally used 39 gn Varget. Later I switched to 44 gn H4350. Loaded to 2.780. This was my 100 yard benchrest load when I wasn't shooting F-Class. I shot several 248/249 with good X counts on the IBS 100 target.

The 107 SMK is my only Sierra I have kept using in 6.5 Berger Hybrids has the 130 and 140 spots.

OAL = 1.200 with base to ogive = .601

The batch I have measures a little different with the Hornady comparitor. I get a base to ogive of 0.650 to 0.653. Perhaps Sierra is correct about variance from batch to batch...

Some 108 Scenars I have on hand are 0.714 to 0.716" base to ogive.

ron i think your right seems to be some very different numbers getting thrown around here, i have 123 scenars which i measure with Sinclair comparator at .682 unless the 108scenars are longer than the 123 scenars?? i thought they were the same with less lead. Dstoenner results are interesting with the 107 matchking was thinking of giving them a try in my 6.5x47l

According to the database at this link the 108 and 123 Scenars are the same length at a nominal 1.300". I measured my 108's at 1.297 to 1.298 and they are quite consistent. From the same link the 107 Sierra's are supposed to be 1.250. However mine measure over a small sample of 5, from 1.250 to 1.265". Not very impressive quality control... The diameters of each are very consistent though with the Sierra's right on 0.2640, and the Lapua a little fatter at 0.2643.

I've done very limited shooting of them, and really can't comment on relative accuracy.

I have been watching this thread wondering if I really screwed up. So I went to my 6.5 calibration bullets and measured my 2 107 SMK's. They both measured 1.200. I don't have a current box but have some left overs from previous boxes. So I measured the 7 I had there. I measured 2 that were 1.180, 1 that was 1.185 and then the rest were 1.200 +/- I also measured the based to ogive. .610 and .609. I am thinking I must have transposed the 0 and 1 and should have been .610 not .601 Sorry about that.

So where these 107 SMKs are coming from that are 1.250 is a mystery to me. The last few years these bullets have been really scarce so they haven't been in stock when I place a bullet order. Since I don't shoot these except at the 100 yard line what ever they are is fine with me.

My 107 MatchKings are not new, and probably 7-8 years since I bought them, and no idea of course how long they were on the shelf... They came in a plastic box, and have a 1715 number on them, which seems to be the still current Sierra stock number.

The Sierra Bar code is 092763017159. Then there is another sticker which may be the batch number. It also has a bar code and two more numbers; 0022436579618 and 002415922. Lots of numbers...

I see they are on backorder at Sierra, so don't sound popular.
