6.5-08

Not sure if this is the proper section for my question.
I had a guy tell me that he was getting a rifle barreled and chambered in 6.5-08. I asked why not 260 Rem ;) and his reply was that he'd had one and it wasn't accurate. ???
I had always thought they were the same, only that Remington had commercialized it. So aside from some custom made reamer that might be used, what's the difference?
That's the first time i'd ever heard that the 260 Rem wasn't accurate. Gun maybe, not the cartridge.

The 6.5-08 and the .260 are one in the same for the most part, though some 6.5-08's will have slightly different dimensions as they are essentially a wildcat and not a standard round.

As for the inaccuracy, I tend to think he or the rifle itself are more the issue than the round.

As Kenny pointed out some 6.5-08's could have different dimensions, shoulder angles etc depeneding on which wildcat he used.

OK folks, thanks.
I was just kinda amused at his statement and wondered if there was something I was missing.
