6.5/06 JME

I just purchased a rifle from one of the 6mmBR forum members, thanks Jack) It is chambered in 6.5-06 JME,similar to Ackley improved I think). Does anyone have load data or other info about this cartridge. The seller provided tons of good info but I can never get enough. It seems to have a 1 in 10 twist barrel what would be the max bullet weight for this. Is Lake City Match brass good stuff.

Any info would help. Thank You

Jim

The LC Match cases are much thicker than most other cases and hold less powder. If I were you and I wanted some good cases I would get some Lapua 30-06 and neck them down. My buddy had a regular 6.5-06 a while back and it was a deer killer with 140 Sierra Gamekings.

If I ever refine my skills enough that brass quality makes a difference I am sure I will invest Lapua. Probably not in this same caliber though.

Just finished counting the loaded rounds and brass I got with the gun. 650 rounds about 250 of that is loaded and ready the rest still needs to be loaded and a few need fire formed. I got another 200 rounds of loaded 30-06 that I can take apart or fire to get the brass. And a hole box of 270 brass that needs to be fire formed. None of it is Lapua mostly LC Match,RP, or Win.

Know that I have written it down it's starting to sound like alot of work.

I should have a ton of fun doing it though.

I shoot a 6.5/06 in long-range matches. My barrel is a 8 twist in order to shoot the havier bullets,139-142grs) I've found it is easier to neck up than down. You don't have to worry about neck thickness or donuts. Try some Rem or Win 25/06 cases. Just neck up to 6.5, load and shoot. My rifle likes the slower powders and H-4831sc provides the best accuracy. Good shooting.

Does any one have info about the JME design of this cartridge.

I checked the barrel twist it is a 1 in 10 for sure. Will 1-10 spin a 139 or 142 fast enough to stabilize.

I am taking it out to fire it this afternoon. I dont have a rear sight yet so I plan to point it into a good backstop and let one go. I have some rounds that have been sized but still need fire formed so I guess this would be an opertunity burn up one or 5 fire form rounds.

Thanks for the info so far I appreciate all the help I get.

If your looking for a bit of accuracy you need to segregate your brass into same make lots. Mixing brass will cause problems if your looking for extreme accuracy..
